The National Endowment Investments Group of the Ministry of Endowment “Awqaf” announced establishing a unit to produce medical face shields within the framework of the ministry’s role in societal participation against the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The group considers the step a contribution to boost the government’s measures to protect individuals and institutions against the coronavirus.
The group further emphasized that the aim behind producing the mask is to provide complete protection of the face from the airflow and biomist particles produced by sneezing and coughing, which could reach the nose, mouth or the eyes.
“Because the normal face mask alone does not provide full protection for eyes, the newly produced mask stops the biomist from reaching the face, and it helps people to avoid touching their faces,” said the ministry.
The new face shield, according to the ministry, is made of polycarbonate which allows its multi-usage per day by washing it by water and soap.
The shield is made of elastic material; it is easy to change its size to fit the face, covering it from the forehead to the chin. The mask will be sold for L.E. 50 ($3.17) per one.
