At the same time that the first death in the Chinese province of Yunnan from the Hanta virus was announced, many questions and information exchange took place through the social media, amid a state of panic among social media users, especially after the spread of the Corona virus in the world and the death of thousands of different nationalities.

Corona virus outbreaks caused global concern, but there are a number of other diseases that caught their head in the beginning of 2020 and cases of swine and bird flu have already been reported in India and other countries, and today a test showed a man from China with Hanta virus, and died of it.

The Chinese Global Times said The man from Yunnan Province, died on his return from work on a bus yesterday, Monday, and analyzes showed he had a Hanta virus. Therefore, a further 32 people on the bus were tested to see if the infection had passed to one of them.

What is this virus?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Hanta virus is a group of viruses that are mainly spread by rodents and can cause various diseases in people.

Hanta virus can cause pneumococcal syndrome (HPS), and flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, muscle pain, headache, lethargy, and shortness of breath, which rapidly degenerate into acute respiratory failure.

It can also affect the kidneys along with previous symptoms in what is known as haemorrhagic fever with nephrotic syndrome (HFRS).

Fortunately, the disease is not transmitted through the air, and it is spread through contact with rodent droppings and saliva, but it is a dangerous virus with a death rate of 38%, according to the CDC.

Often HPS is not transmitted from person to person, while HFRS transmission between people is extremely rare, and controlling rodent numbers is the primary strategy for preventing Hanta virus infection.
