Ever since the pharaonic period, they religiously and academically relied heavily on stars to advance their knowledge, especially on architecture. Egyptian astronomy was extremely sophisticated and many of their ideas became the foundation of our own stargazing and cosmology. The annual flooding of the Nile was the foundation of Egyptian civilization and agriculture, which enabled the following driving force behind the development of Egyptian astronomy.

3rd period

The ancient egyptian civilization lasted for over 3000 years, which began around 3100 BC and ended around 30 BC. It was a highly organized society.They were located along the Nile River in northeast Africa. The Nile provided food, soil, water, and transportation for the Egyptians.

The Egyptians invented mankind’s first official measurement of time somewhere around 3000 BC, called the 365-day calendar.
